After thinking ’bout how I gain my information it might be nice to have a little bibliography page if you will of what I’m currently reading, watching, listening, etc. with hopes that these will inspire you to do the same. This page will grow in time as I add new categories and new information. Enjoy!

Reading:

  • Diet for a New America: This is essentially the book of all vegetarian books. This is the book that many vegetarians have claimed to be their first source in becoming a vegetarian. It was mine…I read it after a group of friends had read it. Swore it wouldn’t change my life, and nine years later I dare say it has. I really want to read this again.
  • Animal Farm: Some animals are more equal than others. I found this book to honestly reflect more at the life in which we humans live rather than the cruelty placed on animals…it’s really the cruelty we as humans place on all things we wish to dominate, control and profit from. Just read this for the first time this year and am happy it is in my library.
  • Animal Vegetable Miracle: Even though they eat meat in this book, their opinions on that matter did not change my own vegetarian ways. I did find myself being highly influenced to support my local Pike Place Market veggie vendors. With this I find that the food we are eating is more fresh, more flavorful and is leaving less of an imprint on the earth. Come to Seattle and I’ll point you to my favorite veggie stand that taught me that peaches are delicious.
  • Face on Your Plate: Mason take everything above a little step farther and talks about the emotions of the animal and how studies are now finally in existence to prove that fish do feel pain when the hook is in their mouth. Mason also gives amazing data on what would happen if we just choose to stop eating meat for one day out of the week. Very inspiring speaker in real life.
  • You Are What You Eat: In my quest to eat more raw foods and to generally understand why my body reacts different ways to too much wheat and too much dairy. This book gives easy lists of foods to eat, when, how often, and what time of the day. There is so much information in here and beautiful photos. I have a feeling this book will become a little guide for eating better on a day to day basis.

Cooking with:

  • The Garden of Vegan: Timm actually gets to take credit for this find. He is friends with one of the creators of this book and thankfully had a copy of it hiding among our cookbooks. I’ve been able to create two amazing meals so far and looking forward to creating so many more!
  • Raw Food Made Easy: Timm brought me this gem after being gone on tour. It has become a very easy and quick resource guide to including more raw into our diets daily. It also is really simple to use for someone who doesn’t know a lot about raw but wants to take easy baby steps to get involved.
  • Ani’s Raw Food Desserts: Raw desserts are the best! Someday I will have successfully created raw cupcakes for the world or just my friends in close proximity to where I live.
